Hanoi, January 10, 2018 --- Navigos Group, the leading recruitment company in Vietnam, which are comprised of VietnamWorks - an online recruitment portal; Navigos Search - an executive search firm and PRIMUS – a career platform dedicated for senior level candidates, today has released a report on recruitment demands for senior and mid-level managers in Vietnam market through recruitment requests from clients to Navigos Search in Quarter 4/2017. The report includes some highlights in recruitment trends and forecast for recruitment demand in 2018.
The recruitment demand for senior and mid-level managers in Quarter 4 continued to grow, leading by Manufacturing sector
According to Navigos Search’s statistics, the recruitment demand for middle and senior level positions from Navigos Search’s clients in 2017 increased 28% compared to 2016. In Quarter 4, the recruitment demand for middle and senior level positions grew 11% over the same period last year. In particular, the sectors which have the highest recruitment demands for this segment include: Manufacturing, Consumer Goods - Retail, Finance - Banking and ICT.
In Manufacturing, the demand for recruiting middle and high level personnel come mainly from Construction, Electrical - Electronics and Automotive.
Consumer goods - Retail sector came second with the majority of recruitment requests coming from Food - Beverage and Fashion - Accessories.
In Finance and Banking, most positions came from Banks, Consumer finance companies and Insurance companies.
IT sector ranked fourth regarding the recruitment demand for middle and senior level positions. In this sector, the highest recruitment demand belongs to Information Technology & Software Services.
Real estate sector lacked personnel who are greatly experienced in techniques and able to implement big projects
The real estate market in the East of Ho Chi Minh City is heating up with a series of projects being launched, leading to the need to recruit strong sales consultants for both investors and trading floors. It is forecast that in 2018, the real estate sector will have a high demand for recruiting technical personnel and sales consultants.

According to Navigos Search, Vietnamese professionals in this sector are good at expertise in a few hectares to tens of hectares projects. However, they haven’t got experience in planning and developing "big projects" that cover more than 1,000 hectares, including the construction of residential areas, satellite cities around the main city. As a result, when companies need to recruit senior positions in this field, they have to recruit expats, mainly from Singapore.
Fashion industry with lots of movement with the emergence of foreign brands
In Retail sector, mergers and acquisitions continue to occur, especially large corporations from Japan and Thailand who invest in Vietnamese businesses that already created well-known brands. These deals open new opportunities for the Vietnamese employees to approach more professional working style and management, as well as create employment opportunities for candidates who have experience in business development. However, during this process, candidates also face certain difficulties in adapting with corporate culture and working style.
In Fashion industry, the labor market witnessed a lively shift after foreign brands entered Vietnamese market. The personnel of domestic fashion were attracted and shifted to these new brands. In addition, local fashion companies gradually follow the operation trend of foreign fashion labels and added a number of new positions such as Visual Merchandise, Fashion Design, and Brand Manager ... According to Navigos Search, in 2018, many new positions will be recruited in Fashion companies to meet the strong competition of the market.
The recruitment demand for Japanese enterprises is expected to increase, especially in Manufacturing and Information Technology
In 2017, the recruitment demand for middle and high level personnel for Japanese enterprises came mostly from Manufacturing and Information Technology sector. According to the observation of Navigos Search, Japanese companies are facing competition from other foreign companies in attracting and retaining personnel.
It is forecast that in 2018, in the North, Japanese companies in manufacturing sector will continue to have the recruitment demand for middle and high-level personnel due to the emergence of new industrial parks and large investments from Japanese manufacturing companies. In the South, the recruitment demand for the IT industry and Services industry is forecast to grow.
In Quarter 4/2017, the salary in Banking was highest
According to Navigos Search’s statistics, in Quarter 4/2017, the highest salary belonged to a senior-level management position in a bank with the salary of nearly 300 million VND per month. Also in this quarter, the middle and senior-level managers in various industries, such as Manufacturing, Finance and Banking, Consumer Goods – Retails, Service had salaries in the range from 100 million to 190 million VND per month.
