The vibrant financial and banking market has generated positive signals for the recruitment demand

The sharp increase in the number of new investors of Vietnam's stock market in the first quarter has positively affected the recruitment demand at securities firms. The positions related to Customer relations are being recruited a lot and still tend to increase in the upcoming time.

In this quarter, Navigos Search has recognized that banks have had great recruitment demands in Priority Customer, Technology, Legal, Compliance, and Bancassurance. Besides, banks tend to transform digitally, so technology-related positions will be offered with an attractive salary.

According to Navigos Search’s observation, requests to look for Japanese, Korean candidates in the insurance industry, candidates for risk management, internal control in the securities industry are difficult because candidates meeting the above requirements in this industry are pretty rare.

Continuing the trend from 2020, overseas Vietnamese in the fields of digital transformation, technology, data, marketing in the financial and banking industry are very popular.

The textile and garment industry has increased the demand in recruiting middle and senior personnel by 50%

The effectiveness of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), especially the European Union – Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), has not been able to offset the decline in exports due to Covid-19 but brought about significant effects in increasing export orders for textile and garment enterprises in Vietnam. In addition, the situation in Myanmar has caused more orders to be poured into Vietnam, leading to an increased demand for recruiting positions in the textile and garment industry, especially in March 2021. Compared to the same period in 2020, the recruitment demand in this industry has increased by about 50% - 60%, especially for middle and senior management positions.

With this transformation, textile and garment enterprises are in need of recruiting many positions in both production and commercial office departments for working in Southeast Asia and Vietnam. Therefore, candidates are required to have working experience in countries of the region, including Vietnam; however, Vietnamese candidates have only met professional criteria but have not yet fulfilled the one for having working experience in the region. For the commercial office department, popular candidates are Japanese and Korean. For the production department, the most sought-after candidates are Chinese, Sri Lankan, and Indian.

Large-scale energy projects are having difficulties in recruiting

Vietnam remains a very potential country for energy projects. Many large projects are in the process of completing investment licenses for implementation. As observed by Navigos Search, some large-scale energy projects have difficulties in recruiting a significant number of plant operators due to inadequate supply of human resources and uneven quality of personnel in the same position. These are positions with high recruitment criteria due to the characteristics of the job that require the operation of equipment and machinery with high technical content and practical experience. Due to this shortage, there are still projects that accept new graduates with suitable majors for retraining.

In the Energy industry, European and American candidates are still favored. For some positions, Malaysian, Philippino, and Indian candidates also attract attention.

Information Technology (IT) companies will grow their recruitment demand in 2021 by 25%

The first quarter of 2021 has witnessed the growth in the recruitment demand of IT companies, especially in the Outsourcing and Product segments, with plans to expand the scope of operations and business. Besides, financial services enterprises are in the process of digital transformation, so there is a very high demand for recruiting IT positions. It is expected that in 2021, some companies in the IT industry will increase from 20% to 25% of the recruitment demand compared to 2020. Recruitment requests from these IT companies often focus on Vietnamese candidates.

Top 5 highest-paying positions in the first quarter of 2021 belong to Real Estate and Retail industry

According to the statistics of Navigos Search, the five highest salary positions in the first quarter that Navigos Search successfully recruited for clients with salaries ranging from 100 million VND/month to 230 million VND/month, are mainly Real Estate and Retail candidates.
