Life has changed for employers and job seekers in recent months as disruption caused by the coronavirus has changed business plans and hiring strategies. We thought it would be interesting to look at the jobs-issue from a 360′ perspective.
With that reason, Navigos Search & AmCham collaborated to organize a Virtual Meeting on June 17 to hear the latest trends and updates from companies trying to hire new staff and from people searching for jobs in Vietnam. AmCham Executive Director Adam Sitkoff moderated the discussion with a panel of expert speakers to learn about this important business subject.
With the changes caused by Covid-19, Ms. Mai pointed out which industries are heavily impacted and which is not. Fortunately, despite the difficult economic conditions and social distancing situation, there are some industries that are still growing or marginally de-growing in the first half of 2020.
Although Viet Nam has done an impressive job of controlling Covid-19, the coronavirus pandemic is forecasted to affect the livelihoods of 4.6 to 10.3 million workers in Vietnam by the end of the second quarter, according to the International Labor Organization (ILO). From the result of the "Career Support" campaign of Navigos Search, we found that experienced employees were facing a threat to their careers due to the effects of Covid-19 - 57% from Supervisor/ Experienced Staff and 33% from Mid-Management Level & above.
To move forward, Ms. Mai believed that all businesses can bounce back if they revise the strategy to lead through the crisis. Building a future-ready organization and developing some key workforce focus areas would help them to make a strong comeback post Covid-19.
